KPMG Volunteering the United Way

KMPG came up with a creative contribution to United Way Queensland and its community programs. From the 2009 Graduate and Cadet intake KPMG donated a total of 60 volunteer hours to the United Way office. UWQ operates a very lean office with three part time staff and a volunteer Community Partner Manager so this was a huge benefit with flow on benefits to our Community Partners.

Our KPMG volunteers completed research tasks around key socio economic issues affecting the community, a Community Impact Study plus updating information on current community issues within Queensland. They undertook a wide range of tasks from assistance with IT, preparing reports, helping out at one of our Corporate Connects, building Community Partner profiles and even basic filing. It provided an opportunity to introduce young people to the community sector and the enormous amount of back office work that goes into operating a community organisation. It also provided a greater understanding of disadvantage and the unmet needs in our community.
