Local Giving Program Adds Heat To Meals on Wheels Service
Thanks to one local retailer, Bundaberg Meals on Wheels has received a financial boost that will assist further with the provision of meals to aged, disabled, frail and ill residents throughout the region.
The program, which offers over 17 delivery runs in the Bundaberg area, draws upon a number of resources to ensure that demand can be met and that all meals are delivered in accordance with the Queensland Food Safety Program. Helen Krueger from Bundaberg and District Meals on Wheels Inc advised that the organisation is patting their aprons in delight with the news that David Griffiths of The Good Guys will provide ongoing financial assistance for the program over the forthcoming twelve months. She said, “This level of financial assistance is very welcome. Our meals are prepared fresh daily, individually packed and delivered so to ensure that we maintain the integrity of each meal, we need to have a range of temperature controls in place.”
“The money that we receive from The Good Guys will allow us to purchase Cryopaks, eskies and food temperature probes.”
Proprietor of The Good Guys Bundaberg, David Griffiths who also supports the Bundaberg PCYC, advised that the Bundaberg and District Meals on Wheels service was a welcome addition to the store’s Local Giving Program.
He said, “Our community is our livelihood so we are proud to be able to give back to the Bundaberg region through our support of this program and the essential services that Meals on Wheels provide.”
The store has returned over $14,600 to not for profit organisations since the commencement of The Good Guys Local Giving Program in 2007 assisting with essential equipment for the Royal Flying Doctors Service (QLD Branch) and facilitating a range of local youth programs.
It is expected that David Griffiths The Good Guys will donate over $6,600 throughout the next twelve months to be shared between Bundaberg Meals on Wheels Inc and the Bundaberg PCYC.
